Canberra Health Services (CHS) confirmed the build would represent an investment of more than AU$1 billion (US$678 million) and the largest single health infrastructure project in ACT history.

Both contractors have delivered major health projects in the country, which the ACT Government said informed their selection.

CPB is based in the Sydney metro area and is a subsidiary of Australia-based Cimic Group, which is owned by German Hochtief.

Multiplex was founded in Australia and is currently owned by parent company Brookfield Business Partners (a subsidiary of Canada-based Brookfield Corporation). The construction company is headquartered in London, England, UK.

The scheme calls for an Early Contractor Involvement contract. Request for tenders will run through late 2024, ACT said. The final contract will be awarded in early 2025, according to stated ACT plans.

鈥淭he new northside hospital will be built on the existing North Canberra Hospital campus in Bruce,鈥 explained CHS. 鈥淚t will be owned by the ACT Government and operated by Canberra Health Services, delivering a more efficient and effective health system for Canberrans.鈥

The health agency said the building is designed with modern amenities and will provide more beds and increased services than presently offered.
