The exact value of the contract has not been disclosed, but Strabag said it was, 鈥渋n the low three-digit million range.鈥

Work will begin as early as August 2024 and completion is scheduled for the end of 2029.

At 962km, the A7 is the longest federal motorway in Germany. The Uttrichshausen bridge is located on the A7, south of the city of Fulda. The viaduct is heavily frequented and is expected to be used by 51,000 motor vehicles per day by 2030.

In addition to the construction of the new replacement structure, the contract also includes the dismantling of the two existing structures, which are 880m long and approximately 30m wide when measured together. They were built between 1966 and 1968 and are being replaced by a new, modern bridge as a result of their age.

The new bridge structure to be built extends over a length of 900m. The two component structures will be constructed in the same position as the existing structure and equipped with five-metre-high noise barriers and a noise-mitigating road surface on both sides.

鈥淏uilding modern bridges is essential for the development of our infrastructure. We are therefore proud to be able to apply our expertise to this important supra-regional transport axis on the A7 motorway,鈥 said Strabag CEO, Klemens Haselsteiner.聽
