South American data centre firm expanding footprint in Mexico

The QR01 data centre will expand in order to 鈥渕eet the growing demand for IT infrastructure and cloud services in the region,鈥 said the company.

ODATA is also currently building two novel hyperscale data centre campuses in the region (named QR02 and QR03).

The QR01 facility, ODATA said, will handle up to 32MW once fully constructed. At present, it is already the largest data campus in Mexico, according to the company. If has a total area of 52.4 m2 with a phase-1 floor-area of 8.3 m2. that the data centre cost ODATA roughly US$80 million.

鈥淭his expansion of QR01 is illustrative of continued customer interest in the market, our teams鈥 successful execution, and the longer-term value of data centre development in the Quer茅taro,鈥 said Ricardo Al谩rio, CEO of ODATA.

QR02, in Guanajuato, will have a 30MW capacity, and QR03 鈥 the largest of the trio 鈥 will have a capacity of 150MW. QR03 campus is located in El Marqu茅s, approximately 220km from Mexico City. Campus size and cost to finish the two newest centres was not available.
