UK pump specialist Selwood and Finning CAT have entered into a partnership that will see the Caterpillar dealer provide industrial diesel engines to the manufacturer.

Under the terms of the preferred supplier partnership, all pumps manufactured at Selwood鈥檚 HQ in Hampshire will be fitted with Cat engines, including the C1.7 and C2.2 which will be fitted in its 4鈥 and 6鈥 models.

Selwood, which has been owned by Arcus Infrastructure Partners since 2022, said it chose Cat engines due to the 鈥渋mpressive performance, lower engine lifecycle and service costs, fuel efficiency, and ability to run for long periods without maintenance.鈥

It said the engines would enable its customers in Europe, the UK and the US to cut emissions as they meet both EU Stage 5 and EPA Tier 4 Final requirements.

The engines will also come with Caterpillar鈥檚 VisionLink Telematics as standard, which provides insights into operating run times, fuel levels, equipment health and more.

Dan Whitehouse, production and engineering director, Selwood, said the engines will enable its customers to benefit from an easier and more cost-effective way to own and maintain pumps.

He said, 鈥淔or every engine supplier there is a different control system, spares, servicing regimes, monitoring system and diagnostic tools. Our customers often manage several pumps with different engines. Having Caterpillar as our preferred supplier means this ongoing servicing regime will be simplified across our customer鈥檚 fleet of Selwood pumps.

鈥淐aterpillar鈥檚 global presence, its engines鈥 lower lifecycle costs and complete product range from 18kW are just some of the reasons why we chose them as our preferred partner. Its engines are also well recognised for their tough construction applications and use in rugged environments, which is essential for our pumps.

鈥淎dditionally, Caterpillar鈥檚 long-term vision to make its products more sustainable aligns with our own commitment to reducing the impact of our operations on the environment.鈥
