Spanish rental company Grúas Estación has added a 104-metre Bronto S104HLA to its fleet, primarily to service wind farms in its local market of Galicia, northern Spain.

Grúas Estacion, whose fleet has more than 400 rental units, described the Bronto S104HLA as the largest aerial platform in its fleet – and in Spain as a whole.

The S104HLA has a gross vehicle weight of 63 (metric) tons.

With two telescopic booms, a 6-section main boom and a 3-section cage boom, the S104HLA provides a working outreach of 33 metres and working height of 104 metres.

Grúas Estación chose an extendable working cage that has a 600 kg safe working load can be hydraulically extended up to 3.7 metres wide.

Mounted onto a Volvo FMX 540/12x8H*8/6685 chassis, the S104HLA has a gross vehicle weight of 63 (metric) tons.

“Galicia has more than 150 wind farms in operation, which creates a market for maintenance and repair work which has driven our decisions to purchasing machinery to cover these needs,” said Carlos Mosquera Portas, Technical director - Grúas Estación.

The aerial platform was delivered at the beginning of June by Bronto Skylift distributor and service partner, LKW Lift, which will also maintain the machine.

“Bronto platforms score highly in terms of safety and reliability, while LKW is also a reliable partner with regard to service and support,” said Portas.

“The new Bronto will be kept busy throughout the summer period with back-to-back jobs, which can mean that staff and machinery may spend weeks on the road without returning to base.”
