It is estimated that 600 exhibitors will showcase thousands of products for the quarrying, construction, and recycling industries during the three days in addition to live demonstrations.

Hillhead is the largest quarrying exhibition in the UK and is held in a limestone quarry. The event attracts 20,000 visitors from all over the world who come to meet suppliers and see the latest equipment, products, and services on offer.

The Quarry Face, Crusher Alley, Recycling and Registration Demonstration Areas will once again showcase a host of plant and equipment, all being put through its paces in a live quarry environment.

What will be on show?

JCB

JCB will showcase their biggest and most powerful X Series tracked excavator – the 370X.

Powered by a Stage V/Tier 4F 240kW (322hp) diesel engine delivering 14% more power, JCB says that the 370X can move 4.5 tonnes more material per litre of fuel than competitive models.

It features the new JCB UX user interface with 10-inch colour touchscreen display and controls, increased hydraulic pressures to boost performance in hard digging, and extended service intervals for improved total cost of ownership.

The new model will be joined at the show by an extensive line-up of JCB machines for the quarrying, construction, and recycling sectors, including JCB’s new Dual Drive backhoe loader, new Hydradig with Raptor tilt-rotator, and the prototype backhoe loader powered by JCB’s hydrogen combustion engine.

HD Hyundai Construction Equipment

HD Hyundai Construction Equipment will use the event to launch its two largest Stage V crawler excavators and its heaviest wheel loader.

Tipping the scales at 80 and 100 tonnes, respectively, the HX800A L and HX1000A L are heavy-duty excavators designed for quarry and bulk earthmoving duties.

The HX800A L is powered by a 403kW (548hp) Stage V diesel engine, driving two 504 litres/min hydraulic pumps, while the HX1000A L uses a 469kW (629hp) diesel engine, powering three 523 litres/min pumps.

HD Hyundai will also unveil their biggest wheel loader with the launch of the HL985A. This 35-tonne loading shovel will be capable of working with 7.0m³ buckets, making it an ideal digging and rehandling machine for the mining, quarrying, and heavy civils sectors.

Powered by a 321kW (430hp) diesel engine, the HL985A boasts a bucket breakout force of up to 28,400kg and a full turn tipping load of 22,950kg in standard configuration.

The company will also give UK customers a first chance to see the recently launched HX-A Series of mini- and midi-excavators.

Sunward Europe

Plant and equipment manufacturers Sunward Europe have announced their line-up for Hillhead 2024. Two excavators making their UK debuts – the SWE 50UF mini and SWE 60UFED compact – will line up alongside other models from the manufacturer’s best-selling ranges.

The SWE 50UF mini and SWE 60UFED excavators will be showcased on Sunward’s static display of six machines, in addition to their 21-tonne medium excavator, the SWE 215F-5A.

Also new to Hillhead is Sunward’s SWE 60UFED, a six-tonne electric compact excavator which features a high-torque permanent magnet synchronous motor.

Complementing the two new models on Sunward’s static display will be the 2.5-tonne SWE 25UF mini-excavator – the zero-tail version of the SWE 25F. Its zero-tail compact design is said to make it suitable for tight jobsites where power is required.

Husqvarna Construction

Husqvarna Construction will be introducing the new DXR 95, their lightest and most compact demolition robot ever, at Hillhead 2024.

The launch adds a fifth model to the company’s range of demolition robots.

The DXR 95 delivers 9.8kW of power and 250 bar of pressure to the end-of-arm tool. Yet, weighing in at around half a tonne, it is small enough to be transported in an ordinary van and steered through narrow passageways, as well as sturdy enough to manage steep inclines at an angle of 30°.

Key features include ergonomic joysticks and knobs that make it easy to select and change settings, written messages that make it easy to understand machine feedback, and the ability for operators to choose their preferred language on the large LCD screen.

Develon

The static display on Develon’s stand will include the DX530LC-7 53-tonne crawler excavator, the DL420-7 wheel loader, and the DA45-7 articulated dumptruck (ADT).

In the demonstration area, further products for the quarry face that will be showing their paces include the DX420LC-7 43.5-tonne crawler excavator, the DL550-7 wheel loader, and the DA30-7 ADT.

Among new products being shown for the first time at Hillhead on the Develon stand are the new DX140RDM-7 22.5-tonne demolition excavator and the new DD130-7 dozer.

There will also be a range of compact equipment on show, with the DX27Z-7 and DX55R-7 mini-excavators and DL85-7 compact wheel loader.

The stand display will be completed by Develon’s DX235LCR-7 24.3-tonne crawler excavator.
