NCC commissioned to build submarine dock for Norwegian military

NCC, a construction firm based in Sweden, announced that the Norwegian Defence Estates Agency (NDEA) has contracted the company to build a submarine dock at the Haakonsvern Naval Base in Bergen, Norway.

The company said the commission was for SEK 440 million (US$40 million).
Part of a larger project to construct maintenance facilities for new classes of subs in the Norwegian Armed Forces, NCC said the 鈥渟pecially designed docking facility will involve underwater works and extensive concreting works.鈥
NCC recently constructed new docks and ports at Hammerfest and Fors枚l in northern Norway, the experience from which, the company said, 鈥渨ill be put to good use in Bergen.鈥
鈥淲e now have the opportunity to, once again, demonstrate NCC鈥檚 expertise in dock construction, which will involve demanding underwater works as well as our ability to manage extensive concreting works in this environment,鈥 said Kenneth Nilsson, head of infrastructure for NCC.
Work is start immediately with completion expected in 2027.
