Implenia to build station and railway tunnel for Swedish transportation scheme

Swiss construction company Implenia is set to build a section of the 鈥淲est Link鈥 transportation scheme in Gothenberg, Sweden, including a railway tunnel and station.
Implenia said that the contract with Trafikverket, the Swedish government agency responsible for transport infrastructure, has been awarded on a partnership model and is worth more than CHF 100 million (US$111.7 million).
The 鈥淲est Link鈥 project connects Gothenburg鈥檚 local transport system to the other routes that run through the city. It involves the construction of three new stations to relieve the strain on the main station.
In addition to the railway tunnel, the parallel service and emergency tunnel as well as the ventilation and fire gas tunnels, Implenia is building the new 鈥淗aga鈥 underground station, including platforms and three entrances.

The project will start in autumn 2024 and is scheduled for completion in 2029.
