Ferraro, which is headquartered south west of Frankfurt in Neunkirchen, provides explosive ordnance disposal, industrial dismantling and demolition, and recycling services across Germany.

Its new 830 E model machines have a maximum operating weight of 45 t and a telescopic undercarriage that offers a stand width of 4.5 m (14 ft 9 in) for stability, retracting to 3 m (10 ft) in width for easy transport on a low-loader.

The model also features an elevating cab with a maximum height of 6 m (20 ft) and can be used with a range of demolition attachments - including shears, sorting grabs and hydraulic hammers, which can enable it to reach a height of up to 19 m (62 ft).

Giuseppe Ferraro, joint managing director and demolition contractor, said: “In order to meet the diverse requirements of our customers, we develop situation-specific demolition and disposal concepts for disused structures, whether wind turbines, residential buildings or industrial buildings.

“That’s why we were looking for reliable technology to support us in our challenging operations in the future.”

Speaking of the company’s decision to invest in the Sennebogen 830 E model, Giuseppe added: “We need a machine that is stable and robust even under demanding operating conditions.

“The ‘Made in Germany’ factor also plays a role. We tested the machine before making our decision and it convinced us immediately.”

Ferraro is now using one of its 830 E machines on a site in Deggen­dorf, Lower Bavaria, where the company is deconstructing a number of old school buildings in preparation for the reconstruction of a new school centre.

With buildings on the site averaging 16.5 m (54 ft) in height, parts of the structures initially need to be retained. Ferraro is using the compact demolition excavator to selectively extract masses of probationary steel and to pull out reinforced concrete slabs.

In addition to its new 830 E machines, Ferraro also invested in a Sennebogen 6300 HD crawler crane.

Specifically designed for demolition works and said to be the only one of its kind in the world, the 300 t load capacity crawler crane can be used with a wrecking ball to take down buildings in excess of 50 m (164 ft) tall.
