The health care facility said the project is the single largest health care investment in the city鈥檚 history. The Detroit metro has an estimated population of 3.5 million and is the largest city in the State of Michigan.

鈥淭he entire project will be world-class from the most obvious features to the smallest details,鈥 said Henry Ford Health.

鈥淭he expanded emergency department will more than double in size to 75,000 sq ft 鈥 and will be equipped with 100 private, flexible treatment spaces. The high-tech touches in the 432 all-individual patient rooms will ensure the most comfortable, convenient experience and will complement the existing hospital facility and beds.鈥

The hospital was designed by US firms HDR, Tsoi Kobus Design and Hamilton Anderson. A consortium of US construction companies 鈥 Barton Malow, Turner Construction, Dixon Construction Services 鈥 are leading the build portion.

The new health facility is expected to open in 2029.
