Ausa sells sweeper business to focus on compact equipment

Spain鈥檚 Ausa is to sell its Excelway street sweeper and maintenance vehicle business in order to focus on its Ausa branded dumpers, forklifts and telehandlers.

Ausa鈥檚 headquarters are in Manresa, close to Barcelona.

Excelway has been sold to Madvac, a Canadian manufacturer of compact sweepers and electric vocational trucks, and to Kaoussis, a Greek supplier of waste collection vehicles.

The sale 鈥 for an undisclosed price - is part of a strategy to double its sales within five years through a greater emphasis on international business.

Ramon Carbonell, CEO of Ausa, said; 鈥淚n 2022, Ausa will begin a major plan for international expansion with the aim of doubling its turnover within five years.

鈥淲e will achieve this objective by focussing on our range of industrial vehicles, which have been the core of our business since it was established.鈥

Ausa is planning a 鈥渕ajor expansion鈥 in North America, Asia Pacific and Central Europe. It is already present in these areas, but aims to increase its market penetration.

The company invested 鈧12 million between 2016 and 2020 to update its products and is planning a similar investment in the coming years to update its range with more compact models.

鈥淲e have the best and most varied range of industrial products in our company鈥檚 history鈥, said Carbonell, 鈥淲e offer efficient, tough and safe machines which meet the needs of our customers worldwide.

Ausa produced street sweepers and maintenance vehicles under the Excelway brand.

鈥淪ales of machines in our industrial range have risen by over 80% since 2016 and, along with the investments which we have made to improve our facilities 鈥 which have a production capacity of 10,000 vehicles per year 鈥 plus our great staff, we are convinced that this is the best time to focus our business and venture strongly into these markets鈥.

He said its experience with the Excelway range had given it 鈥渋n-depth technological expertise鈥 which the company had leveraged to improve all of its products.

He added; 鈥淎fter a long process, which we initiated during 2020, we believe that the proposals from Madvac and Kaoussis were the best way to ensure that the Excelway product range can begin a new phase of development and meet the current demand.鈥
