ABB and Komatsu to collaborate on electrification platform

Electrification and automation company ABB and Komatsu have signed a Strategic Collaboration Agreement to collaborate on the development of integrated solutions for the mining equipment industry.

The collaboration between both companies is said to provide new solutions, ranging from renewable energy generation to fully electrified mining equipment.

Komatsu says that the collaboration is geared towards reducing diesel consumption and ultimately eliminating it through the electrification of mine operations.

Recognising the varying stages of electrification standards across the mining industry, ABB and Komatsu are said to be focusing on haulage, loading, and auxiliary equipment. Komatsu says that this approach aims to build a comprehensive portfolio of production and support equipment to accelerate adoption into our customers鈥 operations.
