2023 World Demolition Awards: And the winners are..

D&Ri is proud to announce the winners of the 2023 World Demolition Awards.

The winning companies were revealed at a special awards dinner and ceremony, hosted by television star Rory O鈥橲hea, in Toronto, Canada, last night (Wednesday 18 October).聽

Congratulations to all those that won an award, and thank you to all the demolition contractors and OEMs that submitted awards entries.

And the winners of the 2023 World Demolition Awards are:

Award 1 - Best Contract of the Year under US$1 million

The judges said: 鈥淭his was a straightforward crane dismantling job until you factor in the 48-hour time window. Then it became very impressive.鈥

Award 2 - Best Contract of the Year over US$1 million

馃弳 Thompsons of Prudhoe

The judges said: 鈥淭hompsons captured all the metrics on a challenging project requiring comprehensive planning, analysis, communication and execution.鈥

Award 3 - Best Urban Demolition of the Year

馃弳 Trifecta Services Company聽

The judges said: 鈥淲ith the site surrounded by an active hospital, this project required extreme dust control and vibration measures.鈥

Award 4 - Best Civils Demolition of the Year

馃弳 Max Wild GmbH

The judges said: 鈥淎 great effort by Max Wild, professionally executed and using many demolition technologies.鈥

Award 5 - Best Industrial Demolition of the Year

馃弳 Manafort Brothers, Inc.

The judges said: 鈥淎 great job, which had the added complexity of working on an overseas island.鈥

Award 6 - Innovation: Plant and Equipment

馃弳 Despe and Caterpillar, joint winners for the development of the Cat 6015B Jumbo Demolition machine.

The judges said: 鈥淭hose of us who have been in the industry for a long time know Despe is not just a demolition company. And Caterpillar is well known for innovation, with the 352 Straight Boom providing the latest example.鈥

Award 7 - Innovation: Tools and Attachments

馃弳 Rotar, for the development of the Q14 electrical connector聽

The judges said: 鈥淩otar has provided a leap in innovation by integrating Ramplifier and OilQuick technology into this quality attachment.鈥

Award 8 - Safety and Training

馃弳 Despe

The judges said: 鈥淐lean work and a clean workstation are guarantees of safety.鈥

Award 9 - Recycling and Environmental

馃弳 Colemans

The judges said: 鈥淐olemans achieved a very high level of re-use along with a focus on reducing carbon dioxide.鈥

Award 10 - Best Explosive Demolition of the Year

馃弳 Controlled Demolition, Inc.

The judges said: 鈥淎 clean and neat job on many different structures. Exemplary work.鈥

Award 11 - Best Collaboration in Demolition

馃弳 Independence Excavating, Inc.

The judges said: 鈥淥nly a collaborative effort to combine resources and project management could have achieved this project.鈥

Award 12 - New Entrant Award

馃弳 Target Contractors, for its project submitted in the Contract of the Year valued at over US$1 million

The judges said: 鈥淭his project featured an 11-storey building, involved 13 government agencies, and required the abatement of lots of asbestos containing material.鈥

Award 13 - Best Demolition Contractor of the Year Overall

馃弳 Colemans, for its project in the Recycling and Environmental category

The judges said: 鈥淭his project featured a large crew, committed to carbon neutral, with incredibles planning, focused on using alternative energy to reduce emissions.鈥
